Ljubi

Image
Friday night and I'm staying in.... nevertheless celebrating the weekend with a cool beer and a bit of music: sounds soooo Eurovision!   (I think I spotted a key change...) I'll try and translate the lyrics asap..... but I know that:    Ljubi   --->   love (male person) and srce   ---> heart Rekel je poet da bo, fant, ki je prepeval le o dobrih ljudeh, lepih re?eh. Bil ljubezni je glasnik, nosil sre?o je ljudem in zanje živel, zanje je pel. Ljubi, ljubi, ljubi ljubi vse ljudi, slej ko prej boš ljubljen tudi ti, ljubi, ljubi, ljubi, glej, kako gori tvoje srce. Ljubi, ljubi, ljubi, ogen plameni, slej ko prej zajel bo vse ljudi, ljubi, ljubi, ljubi, glej kako je lep zdaj ta naš svet.

Hey, hey: it's raining on the grey houses of Ljubljana, and they curtain themselves in grey against the sun. V Trstu nam požigajo Edinost. They are burning down our Edinost in Trieste. Krist je prisel v Društvo narodov. Christ went to the League of Nations. Ne, to ni tisti dobri, tisti lepi, z glorijo ljubezni obzarjeni. No, not the good and handsome one glowing in a halo of love. Psevdokrist je v Ženevi. There is a Pseudochrist in Geneva. Kako, ali tudi v Ženevi dežuje? You say it's raining in Geneva, too? Krist je prisel med rjave puntarje, tam na sivi ulici stoji in izganja pismarje in farizeje. Christ went among the brown rebels, there he stands in the grey street banishing scribes and ...

kikiriki mi je všeč

The concept “to like something (to fancy something)” requires the construction of: biti + všeč where the experiencer is assigned the dative and the admired object the nominative case. Tip: if translated with the German:   X ist mir lieb ( X is dear to me ), the cases make perfect sense.  Mačka mi je všeč → Die Katze ist mir lieb (die Katze mir ist lieb), I like the cat Slika mi je  všeč  →  I like the picture, (das Bild ist mir lieb, )  Gorazd (ti) si mi všeč → Gorazd (Du) bist mir lieb   kikiriki mi je všeč  →   I like peanuts PS: Kikiriki, so far the funniest word I've come across. Beats even the French cacahuète .
