When browsing the net, I stumbled across this tourist website (in German), praising the beauty of PTUJ,.... 
I must say, I agree with most of the historic comments but would perhaps change a few lines with regards to the entertainment factor.


  • "....am schönsten für mich ist Ptuj..." sagten und schrieben verschiedene große Kenner der Geschichte, der Kunst… Auch für uns ist Ptuj die schönste Stadt. Ptuj – Schatzkammer der Jahrtausende, die älteste kontinuierlich besiedelte Stadt in Slowenien, Stadt der tausend Gesichter, Stadt des Wohlbefindens, Stadt der Weine, Stadt der Köstlichkeiten, Stadt der Unterhaltung und Entspannung Stadt der Kultur und Kunsterlebnisse aller Art, Stadt der Romantik, Stadt der Jugend und Stadt der Älteren… Ptuj – Stadt der Bewohner und unseren willkommenen Gäste! Besuchen Sie uns! – 


    Stadt der Jugend (City of youth)....?    Don't make me laugh, every young person with an IQ greater than 50 seems to have left Ptuj...moving to Maribor, Ljubljana and the likes. The remaining youth seems to hang around those characterless Shopping malls ...
    I wonder if the people don't like to spend time in this beautiful old town, or are the politicians making it difficult to liven-up the old town. Something has gone wrong here, Ptuj is turning into a dead town!

    Just had a little  "Aha" moment. Back  in the 70ies, when I was a little nipper, I used to go and watch telly with my gran who had Cable and received Austrian Television. There was a Children's program called Am Dam Des which was quite entertaining despite the annoying clown. We used to sing along to the theme tune: Am dam des, disse malle pess, disse malle pumperness, am dam des.... not understanding what this was all about. Seems pretty consistant, all ending with -m, (em, im, am) Sem --> I am Jem --> I eat pijem --> I drink Grem --> I go Imam --> I have Vidim --> I see Sedim --> I sit mislim --> I think berem --> I read pišem --> I write želim --> I want prepositions, often just a single consonant! in --> and na --> on z --- > with , (in the company of) v --- > in, within questions: kaj je to?    --->   what is this?   ( kaj je to?  --->   what is this?) zakaj?        --->    why? koliko?       --->    how many?  (koliko je ura?   --->   what's the time?) kako?         --->    how?  kje je?       --->    where is?  ...
