Moving to Slovenia

Just had a little  "Aha" moment. Back  in the 70ies, when I was a little nipper, I used to go and watch telly with my gran who had Cable and received Austrian Television. There was a Children's program called Am Dam Des which was quite entertaining despite the annoying clown. We used to sing along to the theme tune: Am dam des, disse malle pess, disse malle pumperness, am dam des.... not understanding what this was all about. I have just found out that it is a "counting out" rhyme of slavic (Czech) origin. but was also sung in Slovenia as follows: Am dam des Ti si mali pes   -->     you are a small dog Ti si mala veverica -->     you are a small squirrel Am dam des

prefixe "po" jesti = to eat        pojesti = to eat up piti = to drink popiti = to drink up gledati = to look pogledati = to look (anschauen) klicati = to call poklicati = to call (make a phone call) anrufen čakati = to wait počakati = to wait  slišati =  to hear poslušati = to listen  .  

to eat is followed by an accusative  Jem torto                    -->           I eat cake ješ lečo                       -->            you eat lentils (on) je klobaso            -->           He eats a sausage (ona ) je solato             -->           She eats a salad jemo juho                   -->          We eat soup jeste čokolado           -->  ...
